Chennai International Airport: Tamil Nadu’s gateway to the world!

Chennai International Airport is Tamil Nadu’s busiest airport. Countrywide, it’s ranked fourth for passenger movements, with over 20.3 million people passing through the airport (IATA code: MAA) in the financial year 2017/18. Chennai International Airport is located off the NH32, 13 miles from Chennai city centre. The car journey from the city centre can take anything from 35 minutes to one hour 50 minutes, via Marshalls Rd, Patullos Rd, Anna Salai/Chennai – Trichy Hwy/Mount Rd and Chennai – Nagapattinam Hwy to Tirusulam and the Airport Terminal Link. Parking is available a short walk from the terminal building.

The airport is situated on the blue line of the Chennai Metro. From Chennai Central to the airport Metro station takes about 50 minutes and there are trains every 10 to 20 minutes (peak/off-peak frequencies).

The South Line of the Chennai Suburban Railway runs from Chennai Beach to Tirusulam station, just a few minutes’ walk from the airport. Chennai Park to Tirusulam takes 29 minutes.

The MTC 18A bus route also runs to the airport (Thirusoolam National Airport stop). Taxis, hire cars, chauffeur-driven cars, Ola and Uber rideshares are all available too.
